When it comes to weight loss, many people in the fitness industry have no idea the difficulty that many people have. Most likely the person that is posting content either have awesome genetics or a super high metabolism. So their fitness journey may be totally different than yours. I’m actually someone that has been overweight basically my whole life. With no help from anyone, through trial and error I have been able to figure out the formula that worked for me. In this video I’ll explain my struggles and how I lost over 100 pounds in less than a year.
Nicks strength and power delivered some awesome news about Larry Wheels today. Larry Wheels is considering competing in the worlds strongest man competition. Can or will he win? Should he try? Should he just focus on being th best power lifter? What are your thoughts?
After competing in bodybuilding and training hard as hell, along with the heavy food and supplementation my body has been through hell. I’m now at the point where I feel as if nothing is working when it comes to making progress in training.
So decided that if I keep doing the same things over and over again. Then I should probably be prepared to get the same results. Right?
Starting over from scratch. I decided to do a 40 day natural cleanse. This cleanse will consist of just eating fruits and vegetables along with just drinking water. My theory is that maybe if I deplete everything, then when time to add certain things back into my training and diet regimen.
I’m also a fan of intermittent fasting, and I love to challenge myself. So what the hell, let’s combine them. My intermittent vegan detox challenge.

In society, when a person chooses to attempt something that separates him or herself from the average person, it seems the automatic reaction is to frown upon it. I’ll take that back, people will shame you just for doing basic things. So obviously if this is the case when it comes to in shape or even worse being a bodybuilder. With the obesity rate being so high in America, you can see why most people would frown upon someone who focuses on taking care of their body. Oh, it’s not just us. If you’re in the process of getting into shape or even thinking about getting into shape you’ll feel the raft also.
What is fit shaming? It get’s terrible whenever I’m getting prepared for a bodybuilding competition. I’ve been told that I’m too skinny, too muscular, too lean and worst of all TOO HEALTHY(sounds crazy but true). I never thought that I would ever hearing something so stupid. Then you have the statements which insult you mental health, such as you’re obsessed and sick. It’s quite entertaining actually. Trust me it’s true. I’ve witnessed it on social media and with others in person. It’s always been frowned upon when putting down fat, I mean morbidly obese people(let’s keep it pc). So with saying
The only difference with us is that the shaming doesn’t work. It’s adding oxygen to a fire. Why you may ask? Because we love this shit! There’s no better feeling than challenging yourself. Out doing each and every workout. Competing against the most important person. That would be yourself. In our minds, pain equals pleasure. Knowing that the next man doesn’t have the heart to do what I do motivates me. When ever someone is bothered by someone being fit, it’s just jealousy. The crazy thing is that everyone has the opportunity to get into shape, and feel amazing. They just didn’t take advantage of it. So who’s fault is that? If it’s not for medical reasons, your own fault. One thing that they don’t realize is that we embrace that negativity because you are basically letting us know that our efforts are paying off. So the next time you hear something about you are too muscular, too lean and addicted to working. Let’s just take it as a compliment. Be proud of yourself, and go harder!
1. Improved Posture
Doing deadlifts will increase your strength of your core. This will improve your core stability. This movement will activate every muscle responsible for your posture. This lift will enable you to keep your back straight even during daily activities.
2. More Muscles Targeted
This movement activates more muscles than any other exercise. Dead lifts even activates more muscles that the squat. This movement engages all of the major muscle groups. If there was on exercise that you need to do, this is the one. The Dead lift works your lower and upper body, including especially your back muscles.
3. Beneficial for your real life
When you do other lifting exercises, like curls for example you’re not doing anything you might actually do in your real life. When are you ever going to have the need to pick something up and curl it for an actual purpose? The Deadlift develops the muscles you need to actually carry something, like a bucket of water, those heavy grocery bags or your dining room table.
4. Improves Your Grip Strength
Deadlifts are well known for their ability to build and improve your grip strength. Your fingers are literally the only things connecting you to the weight of the bar. Your forearms have to work extremely hard as your weight rises to keep the bar from falling out of your hands. As a result your grip strength improves.
5. Increases Hormones
Doing dead lifts with heavy weight, you can increase the amount of testosterone and growth hormone produced by your body. Testosterone increases muscle growth and improves muscle repair while growth hormone, which is produced by your pituitary gland, promotes tissue healing, bone strength, muscle growth and fat loss.

In life we deal with many different stressors on a daily basis. Whether it’s not getting a promotion that you feel that you deserve. Not having enough money in the bank. Maybe it’s relationship or family issues. Many of us can relate to all of these different scenarios. There’s one thing that they all have in common. You don’t have complete control over these situations.
We spend so much time stressed and worried about things that in many cases someone else has to play a part in accomplishing certain things. For instance, let’s use the example of getting a promotion at work. You may have all of the credential, experience and knowledge that it takes to get that position or promotion. But if the individual who is over you doesn’t think that you are good enough or just flat out doesn’t want you to have it, you’ll just be out of luck.
What is one a few things that you actually have control over. Your health and your body. Many people may feel that this isn’t true. For instance, in the black community diabetes and high blood pressure is the norm. Even though this may be the case, you still have the ability to take preventive measures. For instance, having regular doctor’s visits. Instead of waiting until you feel the side effects of diabetes or high blood pressure, stay on top of it. Get regular blood work done. Get your body fat checked. Find out where your weight should be and get it to that point.
Outside of height and facial features, if you aren’t satisfied with the way you look you have the ability to fix those so called “flaws”. At the end of the day, this falls on you. If you aren’t successful or satisfied with what you see, it’s your own fault. It’s your decision.
Take a look at yourself. Are you satisfied with what you see? If not, what would you like to see when you look in the mirror? After you find the answers to those questions. Then find out the steps that need to be taken.
Put all of your focus into what you can control. Then control it. Not only control it, but dominate it!
With the most recent arrest of IFBB Pro Nathan De Asha, I decided to read up on the up and coming bodybuilder. I came across this article by Echo Liverpool pertaining to a 2012 arrest. What are your thoughts?
Strongman is a sport where all the biggest and strongest athletes come together to showcase not only their strength, but also their athleticism. But one of the most common thing in this sport is the that the taller you are, the better chance that you’ll have to be successful in this sport. Obviously, this is the case in a majority of sports.
In the football and especially in basketball, tall people are valued more than short athletes. Even though this is the case, this doesn’t mean that shorter athletes aren’t able to be successful. For instance, Doug Flutie, Sam Mills, Drew Brees and the most recent Heisman Trophy winner Kyle Murray. Obviously, these athletes are an anomaly. They also give others that are vertically challenged the hope(even though false) of having the same success at the highest level in their sport.
There’s one sport that is literally impossible for a short competitor to be a success. This sport is known as strongman or world strongest man. Obviously height doesn’t necessarily determine how strong a person is, but the lack of is a major issue when it comes to being successful in many strong man events. In strongman, the average heights range from 6’3 to 6’8. Anything below 6’3 is considered short or better yet undersized.
Events such as the Fingal’s Fingers and the Atlas stones literally a built for the tall man. So when you have a 4’5 bodybuilder, powerlifter and strongman in Jason Owen from the UK. It becomes refreshing. The question that I have, is can Jason Owen actually successfully compete in strongman competition? What are your thoughts.
The thought of a 6’1 260 plus pound man being too small is weird in itself. But this is the reality for record breaking powerlifter Larry Wheels. Switching from powerlifting to strongman may be more difficult than this young man thought. Obviously strength isn’t the issue, but surprisingly strength isn’t the only factor in competing in strongman. Height actually is just as important as strength. With competitors averaging between 6’6 to 6’8, 6’l seems like a Gary Coleman competing against Shaq. Strongman events such as the atlas stones and the fingal fingers cater to more towards taller competitors. Larry Wheels height or lack there of maybe his biggest obstacle.
